Fake Meat
Those trendy FAKE MEATS aren't healthy!
They're popping up all over the place: fake meats in every restaurant... supermarket... even convenience stores and fast food joints.
And they ALL make two bold claims that have helped turn fake meats into a billion-dollars industry:
This one actually tastes like meat. No, really, it does!
This is so much healthier than real meat.
Well, friend, that first one is a matter of personal preference.
But the second one?
That's a matter of science.
And when it comes to FAKE meat... the science is looking REAL bad!
A new report reveals a DARK SECRET hiding inside the trendy new fake meats, especially those increasingly popular burgers...
And it EXPOSES their impossible promise of better health as nothing more than a marketing lie!
What's really inside fake beef is beyond belief
We're all looking to eat a little better. But, let's face it, we're often undermined by our own appetites for things like burgers.
So several companies have come along with a tempting promise: You can have a HEALTHY burger... without sacrificing the taste or texture.
No more dried-out turkey burgers.
No more grainy, beanie, veggie-burgers topped with sprouts and dairy-free cheese.
And no more slapping a grilled Portobello on a bun and pretending it's a burger.
These new veggie burgers, they claim, are the REAL DEAL--from a grilled and crisp exterior to a perfectly pink inside just dripping with juice.
You can almost taste it already, right?
But a Consumer Reports expert speaking at an event in Washington said these fake meats are in the very same category of unhealthy foods we're all striving to AVOID.
They're PROCESSED FOODS. Not even regular processed foods, but "ultra" processed foods, with at least 40 different proteins and protein isolates in the patties.
This is the opposite of natural food...
It's a lab-created monstrosity!
You know...the kind that's been proven in the past to up your risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and more.
One weird ingredient in the "Impossible Burger" has NEVER been thoroughly tested in humans -- and, as Consumer Reports notes, therefore NEVER been proven safe.
In studies on rats, this "soy leghemoglobin" led to small changes in blood chemistry including reduced clotting ability.
This was a study on rats, but it should at least raise enough alarm to ensure it goes through more thorough human testing before being mass produced.
But that hasn't happened.
This and other fake meat burgers are the hottest thing in the food industry -- and while people THINK that "meatless" means "healthier," these burgers contain about as much fat and even more sodium than normal burgers.
This isn't to say that a normal burger is healthy; of course it isn't. But as a (very) occasional treat, a hand-made burger from lean and fresh ground beef is certainly a lot better than these ultra-processed lab patties (especially if you serve it in a lettuce wrap instead of on a bun).
And if you want REAL good health that allows a wide variety of plant and animal products to satisfy any craving, check out the Mediterranean diet. No gimmicks. No strange ingredients. No empty promises.
Just real, fresh and filling foods that deliver good health AND great taste.
God bless,
Dr. Mark Stengler
